Hampstead Garden Suburb is not a normal conservation area
The Suburb is covered by an Article 4 direction and administered with unusual rigour, and the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust has its own approval process on top of the council's. In practice that means window changes which would be permitted development elsewhere need consent here, and materials are prescribed rather than suggested.
We are not going to sell you a uPVC window for a Suburb address. If you are inside it, the realistic options are like for like timber, or secondary glazing behind the existing window, which normally sidesteps the issue entirely because nothing on the elevation changes.
