Nine out of ten "failed" windows we see need a part, not a new frame: a worn friction hinge, a seized gearbox, a flattened gasket. Because our sister company fabricates our new frames anyway, we have zero incentive to upsell you a window you don't need. If replacement genuinely is the right call (rotten timber, a warped frame, a unit beyond economic repair), we'll say so plainly and point you to our window & door installation service with a written comparison of both options.

Fix on first visit

Our vans carry the common friction hinges, gearboxes, handles, cylinders and gasket profiles, so the majority of repairs are completed in a single visit of 1-2 hours.

Glass, not frames

Double glazing repairs: misted, cracked and draughty windows

Plenty of the window repair calls we take are really double glazing repairs, and three faults account for most of them. Fog between the panes means the seal on the sealed unit has failed: drilling and venting only hides it for a while, so we measure the unit and fit a new one in the existing frame (see misted double glazing repair in London). A cracked pane gets the same swap, and if the opening cannot be left overnight we make it secure first with emergency boarding up.

A draught round a closed window is rarely the glass. It is usually a flattened gasket, a worn hinge or a sash that has dropped on its glazing blocks, all of which are listed above and fixed in one visit. Single glazed panes, toughened door panels and laminated glass are handled by our glass replacement service in London.

Is it cheaper to repair a window than replace it?

Almost always. A new friction hinge, gearbox or gasket costs a fraction of a new window, and most hardware repairs are finished in a single visit. We only recommend replacement when the frame itself has failed, and we tell you honestly which it is before any work starts.

Can you repair just one part, like a hinge or a lock?

Yes. Friction hinges, espagnolette gearboxes, handles, multipoint lock strips, rollers and gaskets are all standard replaceable parts. We carry common sizes on the van, so single-part repairs are usually done on the first visit.

How quickly can you repair a window or door in London?

Urgent repairs (a door that won't lock, a window that won't close) are treated as emergencies: we attend 24/7, usually within the hour in Central and North London. Call 07915 903485. Routine repairs are booked within a day or two at a time that suits you.

Do you repair timber and aluminium windows as well as uPVC?

Yes, uPVC, aluminium, timber casement, box sash, composite and steel-look frames. Different systems use different hardware, so we identify the profile first and fit the correct matching part rather than forcing a generic one.

Will you try to sell me new windows instead of a repair?

No. We are repair-first: if a £40 part fixes it, that is what we quote. Because our sister company fabricates our new frames, we have no pressure to push replacements. When we do recommend one, it is because the frame is genuinely beyond economic repair.

Can a misted double glazed window be repaired without replacing the frame?

Yes. Misting between the panes means the sealed unit has failed, not the frame. We measure the unit and fit a new one into the existing frame, typically £120 to £280 in London, and the frame, hinges and locks stay as they are. More on our misted unit replacement page.

Do you charge a call-out fee for window repairs?

No. There is no call-out fee, day or night. We price the job from your photo or when we arrive, and the price is agreed with you before any work starts.
