Emergency shop front boarding up in London, so you can open in the morning.

24/7 shop front board up

A smashed shop window at closing time, a ram raid at 3am, a brick through the door glass: the shop is open to the street, the stock is on show and you still have to trade tomorrow. Glazing London boards up shop fronts across London around the clock, and our own glaziers come back with the new glass. Ring 07915 903485 or WhatsApp a photo for a fixed price before we set off.

What we board

Every part of the shop front

  • Plate-glass shop windows, single panes and whole frontages
  • Glazed entrance doors and side lights
  • Stall risers and fanlights above the door
  • Restaurant, café, salon and pub frontages
  • Office receptions and glazed entrance screens
  • Shops behind roller shutters, once the shutter is up

Overnight

From the call to a locked shop

  1. You call, we price it. Tell us the street, the size of the pane and whether the door still locks. A photo gets you a fixed price.
  2. Photos before anything moves. The damage is recorded as we find it, for your insurer and your landlord.
  3. Glass out, pavement clear. Hanging shards are taken out of the frame and the footway swept, so nobody walking past is hurt.
  4. Boards cut to each pane. 18mm sheet cut to sit inside the frame, framed with battens on big openings, so nothing sticks out onto the pavement.
  5. The door kept working. Where the entrance glass is broken, the door is boarded so it still opens and locks; where it survived, we keep it clear.
  6. Measured for the new glass. Every broken pane is measured before we leave, so the order goes in the next morning.

What it looks like

A tidy board-up, not a hoarding

Illustration: a smashed plate-glass shop window at night, glass on the pavement

Illustration: the same shop window boarded neatly inside its frame, pavement swept, door still usable

Illustration made with AI to show the difference between a smashed shop window and a neat board-up. It is not a photo of one of our jobs.

Customers judge a shop by its front. Boards that sit inside the frames, with straight edges and capped screws, look like a shop under repair, not a shop that has given up.

The permanent fix

New shop glass, fitted out of hours

Shop front glass is made to measure in toughened or laminated safety glass. Laminated glass holds together when it is hit, which is why many shops switch to it after a break-in. We fit it early in the morning or after closing if you prefer, take the boards away, and add manifestation markings to large panes. For new frontages, frames and shop doors see our shopfront glazing and commercial glazing pages.

A typical board-up is £120 to £250 per opening, with a £0 call-out. A full frontage is priced from a photo before we travel.

Across London

Shop front boarding up near you

From the high streets of Wood Green, Tottenham and Muswell Hill to Upper Street, Camden High Street, Mare Street and the West End, we board shops across Central and North London, and further out on the boarding up across London and the M25 page. In the West End, see boarding up in Central London. Broken lock as well as broken glass? Our emergency locksmith service secures the door on the same visit.

Shop front boarding up questions

How quickly can you board up a smashed shop front?

We answer 24/7 and send a glazier straight away, usually on site within the hour across Central and North London. A typical single shop window is made safe and boarded the same night.

Can I still trade with a boarded shop front?

Usually, yes. We board the broken panes inside their frames and keep the entrance door usable wherever the layout allows, so customers can still get in while the new glass is made.

Do you board up roller-shuttered shops and glazed entrance doors?

Yes. Broken glass behind a shutter still needs making safe, and glazed entrance doors are boarded or secured so they still lock. Tell us about the shutter when you call so we bring the right access kit.

What glass goes back in a shop front?

Toughened or laminated safety glass, made to measure. Laminated holds together when struck, which is why many shops choose it after a break-in. Large panes also need manifestation markings so people do not walk into them.

Will you give us paperwork for the insurer and the landlord?

Yes. Photos of the damage before we touch it, photos of the finished board-up, a written report and an itemised invoice. If you have a crime reference number, we add it to the report.

Do you board up for managing agents and chains with several shops?

Yes. One phone number for every branch, the same process at each, and one account for the invoices.
