Haringey is home. The vans leave from Crescent Road in Wood Green, so a cracked pane in Bounds Green or a broken shop window on Green Lanes is a short drive away, at any hour.

The houses

What Haringey's streets ask of a glazier

The borough is mostly late Victorian and Edwardian terraces. The Harringay Ladder, the run of parallel streets between Green Lanes and Wightman Road, is bay-fronted terrace after terrace. Muswell Hill and Crouch End have bigger Edwardian houses with leaded top lights and decorative glass, and Tottenham mixes older terraces with post-war blocks.

Sash windows

Rattling, painted-shut or rotten sashes on the terraces, repaired or remade to the original pattern.

Misted units

Cloudy double glazing from the eighties and nineties: the sealed unit is swapped and the frame stays.

Shopfront glass

High Road, Green Lanes and the Broadway parades: boarded overnight, reglazed in toughened or laminated glass.

Secondary glazing

A quiet second window inside the original, for bus routes and for houses where the front sashes must stay.

Getting there

How quickly we reach you

Wood Green, Bounds Green, Tottenham and Harringay are the closest part of our patch: we plan on 30 to 45 minutes for an emergency there. Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Hornsey are a little further up the hill, at 45 to 60 minutes. The full picture is on our emergency glazing page.

Muswell Hill and Crouch End both have conservation areas, so a front window there may need to keep its pattern. Read our conservation area glazing page before you choose a style.

Haringey questions

Where exactly are you in Haringey?

Our workshop is at 6 Crescent Rd in Wood Green, N22, between the High Road and Alexandra Park. It is the base every van leaves from, so Haringey is the borough we can reach fastest.

Can you match the sash windows on a Harringay Ladder terrace?

Yes. We make timber sash windows to the original sizes and glazing pattern, or fit slim double glazed units into sound existing sashes when only the glass is the problem.

Do you board up shops on Tottenham High Road and Green Lanes overnight?

Yes. Shopfronts are boarded the same night so you can trade the next morning, then reglazed with toughened or laminated glass once it is cut to size.

My street in Crouch End is a conservation area. Can I still replace my windows?

Usually, but the replacements have to suit the house. We survey, tell you what the council is likely to accept, and quote for frames that keep the look of the street.
