Glaziers in North London, a few miles from most of it.

Our workshop is on Crescent Road in Wood Green. From there, Crouch End, Highbury, Kentish Town and Stoke Newington are all a short run, which is why we can board a window up in the middle of the night and still be back before the morning.

The housing

Four boroughs, four different glazing problems

North London is not one building stock, and the right answer changes street by street. This is roughly how the work splits across the patch.

BoroughTypical stockWhat we mostly do there
Haringey
N4, N8, N10, N15, N17, N22
Victorian and Edwardian terraces through Harringay and Crouch End, larger villas in Muswell Hill, postwar blocks in TottenhamSash restoration, misted unit swaps and emergency boarding
Islington
N1, N5, N7, N19
Georgian and early Victorian terraces, a great deal of it inside conservation areas or listedSash repair and secondary glazing, because replacement is often not permitted
Camden
NW1, NW3, NW5
Period terraces in Hampstead and Kentish Town, mansion blocks, heavy conversion-to-flats stockSecondary glazing for traffic noise, plus communal and managed block work
Hackney
E5, E8, E9, N16
Victorian terraces, warehouse conversions and a lot of recent new buildSteel look windows, shopfronts and emergency work
Conservation

Where you cannot simply replace

Large parts of Islington and Camden sit inside conservation areas, and a good deal of the stock is listed. That rules out the obvious answer of a new uPVC window, and it catches people out after they have already paid a deposit somewhere else.

There are two routes that normally work. Secondary glazing sits inside the existing window and touches nothing on the elevation, so it rarely needs consent and is the strongest option for traffic noise. Or slim double glazing inside a restored original sash, which keeps the frame and the sightline. We survey for both and tell you which your address will actually get past planning.

Emergency

Why being local is the whole point

A broken shopfront or a put-through window is not a quote-and-wait job. We carry board, glass and fixings, so the first visit makes the property secure and the glass follows. Across the North London patch we aim to have you safe within the hour on 07399 253464, day or night. Details on the emergency glazing page.

Questions

North London glazing, answered

Which North London areas do you cover?
Haringey, Islington, Camden and Hackney as the core patch, plus Enfield and Barnet, which have their own pages. From Wood Green N22 all of it is a short run, which is what makes the emergency service work.
Can I put double glazing in a listed building in Islington?
Usually not in the way people expect. Listed building consent for replacement windows is hard to get and slow. The realistic routes are secondary glazing inside the existing window, which normally needs no consent, or slim double glazed units inside restored original sashes. We will tell you which applies before you commit to anything.
Do you work on managed blocks and mansion flats?
Yes. A lot of Camden and Islington stock is managed, so we are used to dealing with managing agents, supplying method statements and insurance details, and working to access arrangements that suit the building rather than us.
How quickly can you board up a window in North London?
We aim to make the property safe within the hour anywhere in the patch. The van carries board and fixings, so the first visit secures the opening even when replacement glass has to be cut and brought back.
