Here's the honest version of the timeline. Toughened glass is a made-to-order product: it can't be cut after tempering, so nobody fits a new shopfront pane the same night. What matters is being secure immediately and reglazed fast. That's exactly how we run it:
We clear the glass, protect the display area and board the opening with 12-18 mm OSB or ply cut on site, via our emergency boarding up London team. Secure, weathertight and neat enough to trade behind. If the frame allows, a temporary laminated pane can go in instead of a board so daylight and window display survive.
We measure the opening precisely, check the frame, beads and gaskets, and put your toughened pane into production, usually 10 mm or 12 mm clear toughened for full-height shopfront glazing. You get a photographed damage report and itemised estimate for your insurer the same day.
